Letter From Principal Clemons

Greetings Jacket Families,

Over the past two weeks, we have witnessed events taking place around us, especially within our local community, that we have not previously experienced. School closures within our state and district have caused uncertainty as our students wonder about the impact upon their academic progress. We do want to assure you and your students that, although the school is closed, Bartow High School teachers are busily preparing for distance learning to begin Thursday, April 2nd. Teachers are working diligently to ensure that lessons reflect the standards that will make certain that the students receive the instruction they need.

I have outlined some important information for you below.

· Please be sure that your students log into their mypolkschools email accounts as this will be the primary method of teacher/student contact.

· Some teachers will be creating paper-based assignments and will communicate with their students when assignments can be picked up.

· We are in the process of distributing laptop computers to seniors who have requested a device.

Even though we are closed to the public as we follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, we are at the school daily from 8:30—1:30 to answer phone calls. You can also reach us through email to assist you with questions or concerns. We may not know all the answers but will do our best to find those answers in order to meet the needs of our students and families.

Stay Safe!

Emilean Clemons, Principal
Bartow High School

Food Distribution

PCPS will resume providing children with school breakfasts and lunches on Monday, March 30. Meals are available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday, at specific sites serving as food distribution locations. Distribution is similar to lunch distribution during the summer.

IMPORTANT: Children may pick up a meal at ANY OF THE LOCATIONS where meals are offered. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND THAT LOCATION.

A law enforcement officer (SRO/SRD) and school safety guardian will be assigned to each school that has been identified as a meal distribution site. Their presence will facilitate the safe and orderly preparation and distribution of meals during school closures. Law enforcement and school safety guardians will wear their standard uniform and will be available to assist the public with any law enforcement issues or concerns related to school safety.
