What We Offer
Summerlin Academy offers a challenging curriculum which includes Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses. In addition to core academic courses, Summerlin offers Russian and Japanese languages, as well as unique electives such as Kendo, Scuba, Equestrian, Archery, Drill Team, Color Guard, Raiders, and Rifle Team. In addition to receiving a traditional high school diploma, cadets can receive the prestigious Summerlin Diploma and Medallion if they meet all the academy’s additional requirements.
Summerlin Academy Capstone Project
Each Summerlin Cadet is required to complete a Capstone Project. Summerlin Academy’s Capstone Project aims to provide Cadets with an opportunity to solve real world problems, participate in project-based learning, enhance his or her skills in research methodologies, while promoting public speaking, and prepare each cadet in college and career readiness.
With the support of the Summerlin Academic Teachers, JROTC Instructional Staff, and external stakeholders, each Cadet will embark on a 9th-12th grade, multi-step process, culminating in their Senior year presentation of his or her Capstone Project. The Capstone is separated into four major components to ensure each Cadet’s experiences are wide ranging. By the Cadet’s senior year, he or she will have completed a comprehensive portfolio, a finished product, an APA style research paper, and a professional presentation.
