Kendo Team

Kendo is the martial art of Japanese fencing developed from traditional techniques of Japanese swordsmanship and used widely in the education system in Japan as a Physical Education Class. Students learn to use a bamboo sword to strike effective blows on targeted areas of the body, wearing protective gears, and a wooden sword to practice fundamental striking sequences, as well as the etiquette and philosophy behind it, which help students learn to discipline the human mind. At Summerlin Academy Kendo class, students will learn Kendo as part of the traditional Japanese culture.
