Scuba

As a senior, cadets have scuba as an elective option.  Summerlin Academy is one of the few public high schools in the state of Florida to offer Scuba Diving.  The program is a PADI Open Water Diver class. Students have class room and Pool sessions.  The Academy supplies all equipment including books.  Students must be able to swim 400 hundred yards and tread water for 10 minutes to qualify for the class.  The class is conducted by PADI Master Instructor Tom Pfister or as he is known on campus Scuba Tom.  Upon completion of the course the student has the opportunity for full certification by completing four Open Water Training Dives.
